Back to School Pizza Recipe

At Love Point Deli, providing quality, artisanal ingredients is our priority.  We offer a variety of delicious ingredients to make homemade pizza, a perfect back to school dinner that everyone will love!  Not only do we offer traditional pizza ingredients, we also offer non-dairy and vegan friendly ingredients as well!  If you would like to learn how to make fresh and tasty pizza at home, this is the perfect recipe for you!

Step 1: Gather Ingredients and Pre-Heat Oven

Almost all of the ingredients above can be found at Love Point Deli (minus the tomatoes and basil).  The image on the left features the Miyoko's Vegan Mozzarella, which is a wonderful non-dairy alternative to traditional mozzarella.  The image on the right features both the Boar's Head Fresh Mozzarella and the Boar's Head Turkey Pepperoni.  Make sure to pre-heat oven at 450 degrees before making the pizza.

Step 2: Roll Out the Dough

To properly roll out the pre-made dough, begin by cleaning off a non-stick surface.  Next, add a small amount of all-purpose white flour to the surface, to prevent the dough from sticking.  Lastly, roll out the dough to your preferred thickness with a rolling pin (a glass drinking cup will also suffice).

Step 3: Assemble Pizza

Place the rolled out dough carefully onto a flat non-stick baking pan.  Gently start to roll the sides of the dough inward, to create a crust.  Press lightly to secure the crust from opening during baking.  Next, gather toppings and begin to layer them onto the pizza starting with sauce, then cheese/pepperoni, tomatoes, and dried basil.  If using fresh basil, do not put on until the pizza is fully cooked or it will burn.

An additional tip if using the Miyoko's Vegan Mozzarella is to place cheese in the freezer for 30 minutes-1 hour prior to baking.  This will help the cheese remain firm and will make it easier to grate or crumble, since this cheese is particularly supple.

Step 4: Baking the Pizza

Once you are finished assembling the pizza, place in 450 degree oven for 8-14 minutes.  When the pizza is ready the bottom of the pizza will turn golden brown.  Option to add fresh basil once the pizza is out of the oven.  Set to cool for 10 minutes and enjoy! 🙂

Chris Duty Book Signing Sunday 12/18/16

Stop in Love Point Deli on Sunday 12/18/16 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. and local Children’s Book Author Chris Duty will be available to sign his selection of Children’s Books.  Chris has a unique style of both telling a short story  and combining the stories with his own caricature drawings.  The stories are entertaining for young children for sure.

Charm City Mead Works tasting on Saturday 11/19/2016

We recently began selling local craft mead products from Charm City Mead Works in Baltimore.  They make several “beer” style meads fermented like a beer and canned.  They also make more traditional “wine like” meads in individual 500ml bottles.  We were impressed with the quality of the products, and they are quite reasonably priced.  Come by and taste them for yourself, and just in time for a Thanksgiving Day treat!!!

Woodford Reserve/Love Point Deli Single Barrel Event on 11/18/2016

Our next Woodford Reserve tasting/etching will be the Friday before Thanksgiving, which is Friday November 18th from 4-7 P.M..  The etching machine will be here to customize your bottle for free, and it adds a nice touch to a gift for your favorite bourbon fan (maybe even yourself!!).  The last event will be Thursday December 15th from 4-7 P.M. if you can’t make this one!!

Woodford Reserve Single Barrel Tasting/Etching Event 10/28/2016

Friday October 28th from will be our first tasting and bottle etching for our recently purchased Woodford Reserve Single Barrel.  The bottles include the name of Love Point Deli and KI Maryland on the front, and offer lots of space on the backside of the bottle for a personalized message.  A great gift for a birthday, anniversary, or certainly for a Christmas present!!!  The tasting and etching will be from 4-7 pm!

We will have two more tastings/etchings on the following dates:

Friday November 18th from 4-7 pm and also on Thursday December 15th from 4-7 pm as well.
